Inmate Mail Policy and Procedure
Money Orders
- Cash and personal checks not accepted
- Money orders or cashiers checks ONLY
- Money orders should contain inmate id# (found in inmate lookup)
Mail
- ALL mail is inspected and searched for Contraband
- No Polaroid pictures
- No pictures larger than 5 x 7
- No nudity or gang affiliation allowed in pictures
- No picture collages, pictures must be cut out of photo sheets
- No jewelry, trinkets or loose items
- No news clippings
- No calling cards
- Do not send stationary, stamps or envelopes
- No stickers, they will be torn off and discarded (including address labels)
Denied Mail
- Information and materials which would create a significant threat to the security or order of the facility or to the physical safety of an individual
- Threats of blackmail or extortion
- Plans for sending contraband in or out of the facility
- Plans to escape
- Plans for activities in violation of facility regulation order or policies
- Criminal activity or plans for criminal activity
- Coded messages that are not reasonably decipherable by the reader
- Graphic presentations of sexual behavior that are in violation of law or materials which advocate or may lead to prohibited sexual activity, to include personal photos showing nudity
- Mail received or sent from one correctional facility to another not approved by the Jail Administrator
- Mail received or sent from one inmate to another while housed in this facility and not approved by the Jail Administrator
