Adopt-a-Road Program
Recent NewsThree new groups joined the Adopt-a-Road Program in 2007. The three new groups include the Barclay Family in the Edgewood area, the Las Campanas Owners Association and the La Pradera Home Owners Association near Santa Fe. In other news, in the south county, Mr. Nicholas Frasch has taken over duties as coordinator for the Thunder Mountain group this year. Mr. Frasch has relieved Ms. Ann Jones of her many dedicated years to the maintenance of Dinkle Road! Cleanups along Dinkle Road were not, nor are, an easy task. Thank you Ann Jones! Two miles of county roadway and a large swath of land adjacent to a highly trafficked intersection on the south side of Santa Fe are now maintained. There are currently 54 operating groups in the county Adopt-a-Road Program. A number of illegal dump sites in the county were cleaned by county employees, participants in community service programs, and individuals responsible for the acts of illegal solid waste dumping. In 2007, recorded weights and volumes from litter abatement activities by Adopt-a-Road volunteers and assistants with illegal dumping cleanup projects totaled 25.58 tons or 323.81 cubic yards of municipal and construction and demolition solid waste. (That’s about 74 pickup truck loads by volume reported in 2007.) Results of the Fall 2007 Cleanup:Santa Fe County Fall cleanups occurred between the first week in August through the last week of October.

Results of the Spring 2007 Cleanup:Santa Fe County Spring cleanups occurred between the first week in March through the last week of May.
