Lost/Stolen/Destroyed PermitsIf your annual convenience center permit has been stolen, lost, or destroyed, follow instructions below: Contact the Division of Solid Waste at 992-3010 to report the permit lost/stolen/destroyed. We will need the following information to determine if a replacement can be provided:
Once we have this information, our Compliance Officer will confirm the number of times your missing card was used. Once the investigation is completed (it usually takes three working days) you will be called and told that you have been authorized to obtain a replacement permit. A replacement permit will cost $15.00, and the new card will be punched with the number of times the lost permit was used. Authorized replacement permits can only be obtained in person from the Treasurer's Office (986-6253), at the County Court House, at the corner of Grant and Sandoval. This office is open M-F 8-5. Replacement permits cannot be mailed. We cannot replace lost bag tags. Commercial LoadsHotels, restaurants, businesses, waste haulers, landscapers, institutions and multiple-unit dwellings are charged the following fees: Commercial fee by net weight is $50.00/ton or, $0.025/poundCommercial customers must establish an account with the County prior to using any of the County's convenience centers. Contact the County Treasurer's Office (986 - 6329) for account information. The County and the customer will agree to a "typical load-weight" (the average net weight of three measured loads per vehicle employed), which will be the measure of billings at the locations where weigh scales are not available. The customer will be billed monthly. Individual loads shall not exceed 12,500 lbs. gross vehicle weight (combined weight of the truck and the load). Recycling
NOTE: Plastic, aluminum and tin containers can be mixed together with newspapers and mixed papers.Cardboard must be separated and placed in separate bins. Motor oil, Tires, Brush, and Tree Wastes are accepted and recycled but require a solid waste permit to drop off.

About Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT)The Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station is operated by the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency (SFSWMA). SFSWMA was created by mutual agreement between Santa Fe County and the City of Santa Fe, and is an independent agency. Their information hotline is 955-2250. You can also view their website at SFSWMA Receiving Hours for residents are 8:00am to 5:00pm, seven days a week.
Illegal DumpingSanta Fe County Ordinance No. 2005-05 prohibits the dumping, accumulating or scattering of solid waste. Any person convicted of illegal dumping will be guilty of a crime. First time offenders maybe penalized with a fine up to $500 and/or 60 days in jail. Subsequent violations carry a penalty of up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. The improper or illegal disposal of hazardous waste carries a penalty of up to $5,000 and/or 90 days in jail. To report illegal dumping or littering, please call the County at 992-3010.
